Hungarian is a Uralic language, and is the most widely spoken non-Indo-European language in Europe. It is the official language of Hungary, and is one of the 24 official languages of the European Union. It is also spoken by communities of Hungarian people in the seven countries neighboring Hungary—especially in Romania, Slovakia, Serbia and Ukraine—and by Hungarian diaspora communities worldwide.
The Hungarian name for the language is magyar [ˈmɒɟɒr] or magyar nyelv. The word "Magyar" is also occasionally used as an English word to refer to the Hungarian people as an ethnic group, or to the language. (Wikipedia)
