The Devil and the Architect

Inti tells the local story of how a granite column came to lie across the main cathedral's entrance in Trier. Legend has it that the architect when building the cathedral tricks the devil into helping him build the foundations of the cathedral. When the devil finds out he has been tricked, he throws a granite column at the cathedral hoping to destroy it, but misses. The column can still be seen lying in front of the cathedral today (see picture).
